About Dancing with Markers

Dancing with Markers offers visual facilitation, graphic recording, coaching, workshops and training, and consulting services, both in person and through virtual sessions. Dancing with Markers specializes in the use of visuals to capture and retain knowledge and insights. Founded by Lauren Green in 2017, Dancing with Markers is a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) serving the global community from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

 

Position Overview 

This internship will include marketing, writing and administrative activities. Intern will start with basic website and blog content management activities and may advance to newsletter distribution, event planning, website improvements, online community management, social media marketing, and information management tasks. Intern will write and electronically file short use cases of Dancing with Markers projects. Intern may be asked to shadow client calls and facilitated sessions, as well as follow-up on client leads and outstanding proposals. Other activities may be offered to intern as need arises and aligned with interns’ skills. 

 

The intern will report to Executive Director (ED) Lauren Green who will provide guidance around all intern activities. The ED will look first at interns who have an expressed interest in the fields of organization development, coaching, facilitation, design thinking, graphic recording, entrepreneurship, or related areas. The ED will work with interns to design their goals for the program and offer one-on-one mentoring to interns in their career development. 

 

Responsibilities

Website 

  • Monitor subscriber submissions and maintain up to date contact list

  • Back-up web content 

  • Make basic web content updates 

 

Blog 

  • Edit blogs 

  • Update past blogs

 

eNews 

  • Write and distribute eNewsletter on a bi-monthly basis 

 

Event planning 

  • Assess interest in workshop topics 

  • Edit event descriptions and post events

  • Monitor payments 

  • Communicate with participants pre and post events  

 

Client engagement 

  • Update Client Relationship Management (CRM) spreadsheet

  • Shadow online client meetings 

  • Shadow online facilitated sessions and workshops

  • Follow up on client leads and proposals  

  • Provide technical support for facilitated sessions and workshops

 

Information management 

  • Organize facilitation and coaching modalities (Google Drive) 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Started or completed bachelor's degree in a related field 

  • Expressed interest in organization development, coaching, facilitation, design thinking, graphic recording, entrepreneurship, or related areas

  • Excellent writing and editing skills 

  • Excellent oral communication and social skills 

  • Familiarity with web content management 

  • Professional social media marketing experience 

  • Availability to perform 2-5 hours of work per week 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated writing ability for blogs and online media 

  • Ability to do light video editing (must have your own program)

  • Ability to do basic graphic design (must have your own program)

  • Understanding of marketing analytics and best practices for social media marketing (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

  • Experience with Wix web platform 

  • Experience with Zoom video conferencing and virtual meeting hosting 

 

Hours, Rate and Duration

This is a paid internship. Intern will have 2 to 5 hours of assigned work per week at a rate of $20-$30 per hour, depending on experience level. Interns will work remotely. No onsite work will be needed. Interns must have their own access to a laptop and cell phone, as well as reliable internet connection. No equipment or software will be provided. Interns will be considered employees of Dancing with Markers. Social security and other federal and state taxes will be deducted. No benefits will be offered as part of this position. 

 

The minimum internship commitment is two months. Interns may choose to stay on longer and may discuss the option of a more involved part-time position if it seems like a good long-term fit and opportunity allows.
